As a Filipino family, it was incredibly important for my husband and me to bring our children to the land of our roots, and this trip was the perfect opportunity to reconnect with our heritage. With my in-laws already in the Philippines, it felt like the stars had aligned for a memorable family reunion in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

A Warm Welcome in Tagaytay: The Gateway to Taal Volcano

We began our adventure by flying into Manila and making our way to the picturesque city of Tagaytay. Known for its cool climate and stunning views, Tagaytay is a popular retreat for locals and tourists alike. The city is perched on a ridge overlooking Taal Lake and the iconic Taal Volcano, one of the world’s smallest active volcanoes. The sight of the volcano rising majestically from the lake is simply breathtaking, and it’s easy to see why Tagaytay is a must-visit destination in the Philippines.

After a few days in Tagaytay, we set off for the islands of Palawan, a destination often hailed as one of the most beautiful in the world. We decided to stay in the northern part of Palawan, near the town of Coron, at a private resort about 30 minutes away by speed boat.

As our boat approached the dock, I couldn’t help but feel like we were in the opening scene of White Lotus Season 1. The staff, waiting on the dock with umbrellas to shield us from the tropical sun, immediately made us feel like VIPs. We were escorted to the lobby, where we were greeted with cool towels, a refreshing beverage, and a delicious snack. The personalized service and attention to detail at this resort were truly exceptional, making our stay unforgettable.

The highlight of our Palawan adventure was the island hopping day tour. We spent the day exploring the crystal-clear waters and hidden lagoons of Coron, each more stunning than the last. One of the most memorable stops was the Twin Lagoons, where we swam through a narrow crevice to reach the hidden second lagoon—a true paradise. Another unforgettable spot was Barracuda Lake, known for its strikingly clear waters and dramatic limestone cliffs.

Exploring these natural wonders by outrigger boat felt like a true adventure, one that my family and I will cherish forever.
